The new decklid will be spot welded just as GM had done back in '71.
The old decklid is to the left of the new one.
Metal is treated with "Rustmort" to remove any remaining rust.

Rustmort can not be used where any welding is done so "galvaprep" by
Dupont is applied to the area that receives the decklid.
The rustmort changes colors as it works on the rust leaving a
grayish black film.
